Andrea Lucero is a short Latina with a muscular build and reddish-brown hair. As Sting, she usually wears a black catsuit, short yellow jacket, and black and yellow gloves. A pair of wraparound sunglasses serves as her mask.
Andrea Lucero grew up a member of a close-knit extended family. When she was eleven, her young aunt Amber Reynoso went missing. The family gathered at the home of Amber’s mother. While the grow-ups fretted and sobbed inside, Andrea and her cousins Tom, Tony, and Mikey kept vigil in the back yard.
Suddenly, a dazzling light streaked across the sky and slowly descended into the Reynoso’s yard. The light transformed into a young blonde girl, and the cousins gathered around the stranger. The girl transformed yet again, this time into the missing Amber. Amber had just escaped from the laboratory of Alberta Wiser; as she collapsed into her niece and nephews’ arms, she irradiated them all with Wiser Energy. This energy would grant each of the youths amazing powers during the coming weeks.
In her civilian identity, Andrea is a professional vocalist who works steadily as a studio musician.
|POWERS & ABILITIES|
Exposure to Wiser Energy has accelerated Andrea Lucero’s metabolism, allowing her to regenerate physical damage at incredible speed. She can recover from most injuries within minutes and heal broken limbs within hours. She has even regrown several fingers after they were lost in an explosion. The upper limits of Sting’s recuperative powers have not been tested and it is not known if she can recover from lethal trauma. Sting’s accelerated metabolism requires her to consume at least twice the normal amount of calories needed for a person her size, but she’s not complaining.
Sting’s agility and reaction time have also been paranormally enhanced. She routinely performs gymnastic feats surpassing the accomplishments of Olympic athletes, and her sense of balance and eye-to-hand coordination are unmatched. Sting can move with amazing swiftness and is capable of leaping astonishing lengths with relative ease.
Sting has “combat precognition”, a sixth sense that enables her to predict her opponents’ actions. She instinctively knows when to move to avoid attacks and when to strike for maximum effect. This precognitive ability functions outside of battle as well, alerting Sting to ambushes, traps, and other nearby threats.
Combined with her enhanced dexterity, Sting’s combat sense makes her an unparalleled melee fighter. Despite her lack of formal training, she can intuitively use any weapon to devastating effect and therefore carries a small arsenal with her into the field. Her favorite weapons include a pair of Okinawan sai, a custom made katana, and her “stingers”, small throwing darts she can hurl with uncanny accuracy.
Sting has undergone Sentries training and is certified in first aid and knows just enough about computers to get her into trouble. She is one of the team’s top shuttle pilots thanks to her sixth sense and enhanced reaction time.
|PERSONALITY & TACTICS|
Andrea Lucero is an earthy woman who cherishes her family and loves life’s pleasures. She is a bit more of a follower than a leader and is happy to leave the big decisions to others. Andrea was a tough gal even before her paranormal abilities manifested and does not take guff from strangers. She is fiercely protective of her loved ones, especially her son, Zach.
Sting takes Andrea’s passion for life and cranks it up to eleven. She exults in her physical ability and finds a fearsome joy in battle. Sting never demonstrates the indecisiveness Andrea can sometimes exhibit in her civilian life – she follows her instincts and never hesitates to leap into the thick of things.
Sting uses her agility and speed to her best advantage, launching hit-and-run strikes and using sneak attacks whenever possible. She never stays in one spot long and is always careful to keep herself out of the reach of super-strong foes.
